HEALTHWAYS & THOMASIANS USA

Founding PAAWBAC Member and Woman Warrior Alice Bulos will help a Philippine-born high school senior, MJ Oliveros, navigate her way through her traditional Filipino upbringing and contemporary American culture to make positive choices as she enters adulthood.

RALLY FAMILY VISTATION SERVICES

Executive Director, Sonia Melara, will be mentoring Esuroi Haley Clarin, a Pacific Islander (Palauan) and student in the S.F. State School of Social Work. This placement will provide a rare chance to gain experience in public policy, with a focus on children’s issues. Rally services, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, provides supervised visitation services to parents referred from family court.

SELF-HELP FOR THE ELDERLY

Woman Warrior Anni Chung will mentor three immigrant women — April Chan, Annie Yu, and Sarah Chan — to enhance their leadership, fundraising, and people skills, and bolster their personal and professional growth. Former PAAWBAC mentee Danielle Lam will be a “peer mentor.”

S.F. DEPT ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN

Executive Director Emily Murase’s mentee, Stephanie Nguyen, will conduct policy analysis and public outreach on human trafficking, particularly in the Asian community. The mentee will work alongside the Mayor’s Task Force on Human Trafficking, and her duties will include data collection and analysis.

S.F. OFFICE OF CIVIC ENGAGEMENT & IMMIGRANT AFFAIRS

Annora Khaw and Jessica Kyo will receive a comprehensive experience in public affairs and community service as they are mentored by Woman Warrior Adrienne Pon, exploring new ways to help linguistically and economically vulnerable residents access city services.

In 2013, PAAWBAC again supported the Sister-to-Sister Leadership Conference, put on by ASIAN AMERICAN RECOVERY SERVICES, INC., to help empower young API women to be the architects of their own lives.
