Network Events

PAAWBAC frequently hosts networking events in years when the Woman Warrior or Monarch awards are not held. These events may feature panels of women leaders addressing current topics of relevance to API women, with time for individual networking afterwards. Key speakers have included API women with expertise in areas such as finance, politics, technology or community work.

PAAWBAC’S “DESIGNING WOMEN” HONOREES

Rosalina Lydster – Precious Jewelry

Rosalina Lydster inherited her love of jewelry and knowledge of design from her mother, a well-respected jeweler in Saigon. After studying at San Francisco State University and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, Rosalina began designing wedding bands, engagement rings, and special pieces for friends and associates as a side project to her full-time career as an investment banker with a major Wall Street firm. After careful consideration and urging by colleagues and friends, Rosalina founded the Jewelry by Rosalina brand of couture jewelry in 2001.

Rosalina has become an expert in identifying quality gems and has perfected the art of combining certain precious and semiprecious stones to create lavish and intricate works of art. According to Rosalina, “From minimalist to extravagant, my goal is for my creations to truly express the personalities of my clients.”

Rosalina is currently one of the most sought-after designers by many celebrities, including Adrien Brody, Tom Hanks, Stockard Channing, Jessica Alba, Giselle Bundchen, Orlando Bloom, Parker Posey, Elton John, Jessica Simpson, Vanessa Carlton, Danielle Steele and many others. Most recently, Rosalina dressed Parker Posey in several Jewelry by Rosalina pieces for the film Superman Returns.

Taryn Rose – Luxury Footwear & Handbags

Taryn Rose changed the footwear industry in 1998 by creating a line of luxury shoes that are as fashionable as they are functional. Formally trained as an orthopedic surgeon, Taryn saw patients with many serious foot problems that were caused by fashion footwear, high heels and pointed toe shoes. With her own appreciation of designer goods, Taryn created her collection using the most luxurious materials available and crafted the line to be worn with the finest clothing. The shoes are made by highly skilled artisans in Italy, with almost three hours of hand labor in each pair.

Taryn has been featured on Oprah, Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer, Discovery Channel’s Berman and Berman, National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, Fine Living Network’s Radical Sabbatical, Later Today Show and news shows across the country. In 2006 The Women’s Leadership Exchange group honored her with the Compass Award, which is presented to women who have shifted the paradigm of how women are perceived as business leaders.

In fall 2003, Taryn launched a complete men’s collection that spans from dress to casual. Celebrated by retailers, the men’s collection is carried in select specialty stores and Taryn Rose boutiques. In 2006 she launched a full collection of handbags for men and women.
