Senior Vice President, Health; Futures Without Violence
Debbie has been with Futures Without Violence, formerly, Family Violence Prevention Fund (FVPF) since 1980. She is currently a Senior Vice President working on policy and practice that helps healthcare providers and educators address the needs of families affected by violence and trauma. She led the Start Strong: Building Healthy Teen Relationships initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Debbie directed the National Health Resource Center on Domestic Violence (HRC) from 1993 – 2008, which sought to strengthen the health care response to domestic violence. She led partnerships in 27 states working with public health departments and domestic violence programs as well as an initiative with 25 health centers in Tribal communities across the country. Over the years she has worked in state and federal policy and issues impacting immigrant and refugee women.
She is a selected fellow of MOVE to END VIOLENCE, a program of the NoVo Foundation. Ms. Lee was appointed to the Department of Justice & Office on Violence Against Women National Advisory Council on Violence Against Women serving from 2010 – 2012. She was a founding board member of the San Francisco-based Asian Women’s Shelter, the Asian and Pacific Island Institute on Gender-based Violence, the National Network on Behalf of Immigrant and Refugee Women, two state coalitions on domestic violence, and The Women’s Foundation.
